College - Safety
All colleges have safety programs during the first weeks on campus; as boring as these programs may appear, your teen needs to be reminded to pay careful attention to them. We also suggest that, before your collegiate leaves home, you discuss the need for them to pay careful attention to their personal safety at all times. New friends and new activities can lead to some very difficult and dangerous situations from which your child may have difficulty extracting himself or herself. It is always easier to "Stay our of Trouble" than to have to "Get out of Trouble."
Alcohol is one of the leading issues in related to teens' personal safety. They should be aware of the dangers of being near anyone who has been drinking, from the standpoint of alcohol poisoning and from the impairment of driving and judgment in anyone who has been drinking.
One of the most pervasive dangers to your child is the fact that most young people feel they are immortal and that "nothing bad will happen to ME."
