Junior & Senior High School - Check-Ups
Some teenagers only visit their pediatrician when they are sick or hurt. But staying healthy means more than just seeing a doctor when something is wrong. A first step is to visit The Kidz Docs once a year, just to make sure everything is OK and to prevent any problems from becoming serious.
Many schools also ask students to get a physical before joining a team sport or cheerleading. These physicals usually must be administered within one year of the date of the start of the activity. Camps for the summer also frequently require a physical examination, although these most commonly can be within two years.
The Kidz Docs respect our teens as patients. Because we are the teen's doctor, we will not talk with anyone about our findings without first asking permission of the teen. The only exception to this rule will be during an emergency or life-threatening situation.
During the check-up The Kidz Docs will also answer any questions regarding the following topics:
- Personal and/or family problems
- School problems
- Alcohol and drug use
- Sexual relationships
- Conflicts with parents
- Referral to other doctors for special health needs
We would like to remind you that there is a small charge for completing a school, camp, or sports form when the form is not completed at the time of the physical exam.
