Michelle Barnes grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She earned her bachelor of science in nursing from the University of Maryland Baltimore and worked with both adults and children in acute care. Realizing her passion for working with children, she later graduated with a master of science in pediatric acute care and a post masters in pediatric primary care from Vanderbilt University.
As a military spouse, she has worked as a critical care nurse in Virginia and California, as a clinical instructor in South Carolina, and as a nurse practitioner in North Carolina. Her special interests include children and youth with special health care needs.
Michelle currently lives in Alexandria with her husband, two children, and their weimaraner. She enjoys spending time with her family outdoors, reading, and swimming.
